Now Workers can get the UAN from EPFO portal

EPFO, has recently launched a facility for the formal sector workers through which they can get the Universal Account Number UAN online and for this they would not have to depend on their employers anymore.

Currently, the workers have to apply through their employers to get this UAN. UAN is a number which helps the workers to avoid filing PF transfers claims when changing jobs. UAN would be same throughout the life of workers.

Now, workers are able to get their UAN number on the EPFO website which will enroll them for PF, life insurance benefits and pension. Therefore, workers would not need to depend on the employers.

Apart from this, EPFO also provided a facility for its 65 lakh pensioners which will let them download the documents like pension payment order (PPO) on DigiLocker.

To make the work paperless, EPFO has integrated with DigiLocker of National e-Governance Division (NeGD) to create a depository of electronic PPOs this will be accessible to individual pensioners.

Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar launched the two facilities for account holders during the 67th foundation day celebrations of the retirement body here.

He also announced the launch of e-inspection, which is a digital interface of the EPFO with employers.

This E-Inspection Form would be available in user login of employers not filing ECR which will allow them to inform either closure of business or unpaid dues with proposal for payment. It is to nudge employers for compliant behavior and prevent harassment.
