Employees’ Provident Fund Organization is a statutory organization of the Government of India. EPFO was founded in 1951 and is under the control of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It is the largest social security organization of the country which encourages the people to save their funds for retirement among the other things.

EPFO allows its subscribers to withdraw funds from their savings under certain circumstances, although for purposes such as education, marriage, illness and house construction, it allows partial withdrawal from the Provident Fund Account.
