Delhi Government to clear the pending pension applications in June

By the end of this month, June end, the Delhi government has ordered their officials to clear the pending application for the pension made by widows, senior citizens, differently abled people.

The order has came after Delhi social welfare minister Rajendra Pal Gautam’s surprise inspection in Delhi to check the status of pension cases. He had done it without any knowledge of the officials and he found that there are large numbers of applications still pending for pension.

The official order stated- “Applications continue to remain pending for months despite several directions from time to time. The minister has now directed that all pendency be cleared by June end. All district officers are directed to resolve pendencies in all three financial assistance schemes, including all cases pending at the operator level and applications under objection,”

The officers are asked to submit the compliance report on July 1. Gautam said-“The pendency in pension cases is disappointing. I have ordered an immediate audit of all district offices under Social Welfare and Women and Child Development departments. I have also issued directions to fill all vacancies to ensure smooth functioning of offices,”

Since the Pandemic has affected many people, Delhi government has doubled the pension amount for around five 5 lakh senior citizens, 2.5 lakh widows and for 1 lakh differently abled people.
